Manguinhos Brigitte Bardot found peace
and brought glamour in 1962
A wide bay with warm waters and firm sands.
Ideal for walks. The small waves and constant
winds make the beach a perfect place for wind
surfing.
At the end of the beach, on the border with
the Praia de Tartaruga, there is a headland
called ‘’ Ponta da Sapata ‘’
with remnants of coral, and with beautiful
sunsets.
The beach is lined with ‘’Casuarinas
‘’, native trees, which add a
touch of magic to the bay.
History
Even today, there are remains of an old slave
trading port. The beach is named after its
mangrove-like vegetation.
