ENTRANCE VISA
For Mercosul citizens, it is necessary to just present an identity document or valid passport.
For tourists and visitors of other nationalities, the presentation of a passport, valid for the next six months is required. Visitors from some countries need an entrance visa; consult www.embratur.gov.br or the nearest Brazilian consulate. Remember that obtaining a visa requires advance planning. A tourist visa allows a maximum stay of 90 days in Brazilian territory. This can usually be extended for a further 90 days by the Federal Police.
Foreign tourists are not allowed to work while in Brazil. For information about work visas contact the nearest Brazilian Consulate, or the Brazilian Embassy in your country.

Public telephones work with phone cards. The caller can make local, inter-city, international and collect calls. Check the operating instructions of the phone unit to see whether international calls can be made.
Phone cards can be bought at most kiosks, stationers and chemists.
