Conservation Area
On
19th. August 1998 the Búzios local
authorities named this area of 141,000 m2.
. as a conservation zone. This was an important
measure towards maintaining an ecological
balance on the peninsula, particularly as
the area is close to Búzios’
historical centre and Ossos Beach. The vegetation
is mostly the remains of coastal sand dune
plants, and the thorny scrub vegetation which
has spread southwards from the northeast.
The conservation order will theoretically
prevent further construction, and the spoliation
of this beautiful region.
